Unique Wedding favors ideas – Mason Jar recipes.

By Shanea Thompson
A wedding favor is a great way to say thank you to your guest that attend you special day. One of the best ways to do this is to give them something edible. A fun and inventive idea is to create a dry ingredient mason jar recipe. Below is a instructions on how to create 1 wedding favor.

Materials:
• 1 mason jar with rim
• 1 piece of fabric cover jar (any type of cotton works well)
• 1 piece of twine or raffia to wrap around the lid and secure the card
• 3”x5” card
• pinking shears
• paper punches
• colorful markers
• scissors
• 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
• 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1/2 cup brown sugar

Directions:
Combine the following ingredients into a large bowl; flour, baking soda and sugar. Add this mixture to the mason jar first, then add in the chocolate chips and finally place the brown sugar on top.

To close up your wedding favor place the piece of fabric over the top of the jar and screw the rim over the jar while holding the cloth in place. Cut off the edges that are sticking out from under the rim using pinking shears for a nice finished look.

Make the label for the favor. I folded a 3″ x 5″ piece of paper in half. Then, using the marker, write a message to your guests thanking them for coming to you special day on the front of the card. You can then use the pinking shears to shape the card edges for a bit more of a decorative look. On the opposite site of the card finish writing the rest of the recipe directions and ingredients:

• 3/4 cup softened butter.
• 2 eggs.
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
• Mix and drop cookies onto greased pan.
• Bake 8-10 min at 375 degrees.

Punch a small hole in the corner of the card, and tie, it around the favor.

Preserving Fall leaves – craft tip

I live in Ohio and some of our leaves are already starting to change.  I can’t believe it!  Summer went to fast.

Do you like using the Fall leaf colors in your home during this time of year?  Want to preserve the wonderful Fall leaf color?  Be sure to find leaves that are somewhat flat and do not have a lot of creases in them for the best outcome.  Also look for the ones without spots.  If you would like to flatten them, I think, the best way is to put them inside the pages of an old book with a paper towel.  If the leaves have a lot of moisture you might want to replace the paper towels after a few days.  Collecting leaves is also a lot of fun for your kiddos.

Glue Gun Craft Tip!!!

Keeping the dripping mess to a minimum with a glue gun can be difficult. To help prevent a mess place a small ceramic dish under your glue gun.  This will catch all of the dripping hot glue and will make for easy clean up from the ceramic dish.

Painting Craft Tip!!!

Going to paint again tomorrow and you don’t want to wash out your brushes tonight. Wrap them in saran wrap and place them into the refrigerator over night. This will keep them from drying out and you can start back painting where you left off.

Craft Tip!!!

Use this technique and storing ribbon will be a snap.  Find a see-through tall plastic container with a lid. Stack all of your ribbon inside the container. Cut small slits in all sides of the container and pull the ribbon through each one.  This will keep all your ribbons organized and untangled for easy access.
