Selling Crafts Online

This week, Tiger and Lily Boutique was featured in a blog post about selling crafts online.  The title is “Best Craft Mall – Etsy, ArtFair, Handmade Catalog…”.  Read the whole post…we are mentioned near the end.  Sneak attack style.  :-)   I think this is a very fair post about the above competitors.  Make sure to check out Bob’s home page too.  I really like the tagline, “From kitchen table hobby to to full-time income and beyond…”.

Together forever – even far away

So we are back in Ohio. Sigh! It’s bitter sweet. I love my home and my boys but I wish my best friend didn’t live over 2,500 miles away. What would we do without the Internet and web cams. :-) Both my husband and I had a wonderful time in California. We escaped the east coast humidity for a few days which was refreshing. We did so many things I’m sure I’ve forgotten a few of them already. We drove the Napa/Sonoma wine country which is beautiful, we toured Korbel and tasted their wonderful Champagne, we swam in the Russian River, we toured the Winchester Mystery Mansion in San Jose and we walked San Francisco until our feet and backs were aching. Plus we ate and ate and ate! :-)

While on our trip, Shanea and I created two new crafts for the site, a pair of earrings and a necklace.  Both made from items found at the beach. (Or in my case, in a beach gift shop)  LOL!  Stay tuned, I will post pictures and we will feature each item as a kit or how to article soon.

Enjoy the following pictures of Shanea and I on vacation!

Touring and tasting – Korbel California Champagne Cellar.  What a great day!

Walking around uptown (or downtown – not sure) Petaluma, just after eating Old Chicago Pizza – YUM!

Eating Ben and Jerry’s ice cream in the Petaluma square.

Our last day together, so sad.  We were in San Jose at the Winchester Mystery Mansion.  The cool part was everything was my size…minature.  teehee!  It really was bizarre!

Going back to Cali, Cali, Cali…

Some of you know, Tiger and Lily Boutique’s background well and some don’t.  So I’m going to take a few minutes and tell a little of our story.  Shanea and I (Andie) started this joint venture over a year ago.  She lives in Cali and I live in Ohio… LOL!  Yes, very far away.  Shanea and I met online over 7 years ago and have been friends ever since. We are seriously sisters separated at birth. We even finish each others sentences. :-)

We both work full time jobs outside our homes while our hubby’s stay home with the babies. We also both work in IT and do just about the same type of work.  One of the goals of Tiger and Lily Boutique is to give Work from Home Mom’s (WFHM) a place to start their own business and do what they really love to do, CRAFT! We want to empower woman to be WFHM, rather than SAHM’s.  There is a much different tone when you say, “I am a WFHM!” It exudes confidence.  Both Shanea and I strive to be at home with our babies; which is ultimately our goal.

I get to see Shanea usually once a year (if I’m lucky)…well guess what!!! My husband and I are going to Cali baby….in 2 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  If you can’t tell I am way excited.  We will post pictures too so check back.

Making Dried Flower Wreaths

This week we are talking about drying flowers on Tiger and Lily Boutique .  So to keep up with this theme we have another new article about making wreaths.  Enjoy!

This article is written by Dawn Keadic.

Dried flower wreaths can be especially beautiful and add that little bit of elegance to the interior of your home, or can be used as a door wreath, as you prefer. Personally I like to make them and hang them on a mirror of a buffet cabinet in the dining room or on a round wall mirror in the living room. I call these “grandmother’s” wreaths, because I choose to make them in the old fashioned way in which my grandmother made them.

Drying Flowers for Crafts

Although there are somethings we wish could last forever or a moment we wish would never end, ultimately they do. The memory of the special event, however, can be preserved for us to recall and enjoy for a long time to come. Drying flowers is a simple and inexpensive way to preserve these cherished moments.

This craft article is very close to my heart. I love drying flowers. I keep many flower bouquets in memory of lives that have passed.  It’s a tradition in our family to buy single long stem roses to be passed out at the grave site.  I mainly started this tradition so that others could take something home and preserve the memory of their loved one.  ~Andie
