Wet Cleaning Greenware :
How to wet-clean greenware.
- Submerge the greenware into warm water. Let the greenware soak for at least 3 minutes.
- Make sure that all parts of the doll are wet at all times during this process.
- If you are cleaning a doll head the first portion to clean is the eyes. To remove the eye holes use a feather knife and trace the outline of the eye holes until they porcelain is cut away from the head..
- Bevel eyes with a beveling tool and size them to the correct eye size.
- Clean all seams with a small razor knife or other seam cleaners such as a wet scrubber. Be careful not to remove too much detail when removing the seams.
- Take a very close look at all of the doll pieces be sure to buff out any imperfection and fill any pin holes that may be left from poring.
- Let your finished doll dry before putting it into the kiln to fire. If the porcelain to cold to the touch it may still be wet. Wait until you are sure that the porcelain is completely dry before putting it into the kiln.
- Fire your doll to porcelain in your kiln using a cone 6.
